A vital force behind Edmond Memorial's incredible run to the OSSAA 6A1 semi-finals last season and quarter-finals this season, Lawson has just finished his fourth year with Bulldog Football and ninth year of competitive play within the Edmond Bulldog Vertical system.
Lawson brings a high level of football IQ and physicality to every snap. A versatile and experienced presence on the field, Lawson shines as an offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and tight end, proving invaluable to the team's success.
Beyond the gridiron, his multi-sport background in wrestling and track further highlights his athleticism, discipline, and competitive drive.
A product of Central Middle School, Lawson is a dedicated student-athlete who is actively exploring opportunities to continue his academic and athletic journey. He's cheered on by his most enduring fans, Steven and Carrie Akins, and other family members.

Playing mainly offensive line, with some snaps at tight end and defensive line, Wesley Lawson's football career is marked by substantial team success and individual recognition culminating in his recognition for Offensive Line All-Conference and Offensive Line All-District honors during the end-of-season banquet. Additionally, he was awarded the prestigious Shelby Hudson Football Memorial Scholarship.
Lawson started adding to his stack of individual awards early in the 2025 season as he earned the Edmond Memorial “Trench” Player of the Game vs Del City in Week 0 and again at Owasso in Week 7. He won the award an unprecedented 3rd time for his performance in Week 9 vs Broken Arrow.
He was also selected as one of the top 20 Oklahoma high school Offensive Linemen for The Oklahoman’s 2025 fan choice poll where he placed in the top 5 in voting.
In his junior and senior seasons, pivotal years for Lawson, he was a crucial member of Edmond Memorial’s phenomenal football successes, amassing a team record of 12-5 in games he started.
As a starting offensive lineman, his team reached the OSSAA State Semi-finals, was crowned Oklahoma Class 6A-1 Regional Champions, finished as District Championship Runners-up, reached the OSSAA State Quarter-finals and secured the Edmond All-City Championship for two straight years.
Additionally, Lawson’s individual impact during the 2024 playoffs was recognized, as he earned EMHS OSSAA Quarterfinals “Trench” Player of the Game.
His history of contributing to winning programs extends back to his freshman year, as he was also a member of the 2022 COAC Conference 9th Grade Championship team.
His dedication to improvement was noted early in his career; he was awarded the “Improvement Excellence” award during the 2021 QBI Camp Impact/Lineman University event in Texas at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium.
Even in youth football, Lawson’s teams were consistently dominant, being part of the 4th grade INFC Oklahoma State Championship runners-up team in 2017, and his Youth Bulldog team won three consecutive Division Championships with three undefeated seasons.
